Something has long bothered me as I follow the two-year lectionary of Bible readings during morning or evening prayer. The schedule will have me reading right through a book of the Bible when, abruptly, a chapter or section is skipped. It may reveal the way my mind works, but I always wonder, “What was in that section that caused the lectionary creators to skip it?”
To satisfy my desire to just read right through the Bible during daily prayer, I have created a schedule of my own:
Two Year Bible Reading Schedule
This schedule also has the advantage of presenting the books in chronological order. The prophets are inserted within their correct contexts in the historical books and the epistles are similarly inserted at their places in the Acts. And all the books and chapters are included.
I like it. I hope you do, too.
